Nighthawks Enjoy the Snow on their Day Off
Many Nighthawks took the advantage of the additional day off on Friday, January 29th to have fun with their families in the snowy areas of San Diego County.
In January, it was reported that three storms brought about the heavy rain and hail San Diegans experienced near the coast. In places further inland at higher sea levels, such as Palomar Mountain and Warner Springs, local snowfall accumulation measured 5 to 7 inches.
Eva Crickard (‘23) went to Cleveland National Forest, near Palomar Mountain. She stayed for three hours and managed to see it snow. Crickard says there was even enough snow to slide down and make snowmen out of.
She recalls seeing a large number of people driving up to the mountain, but was surprised to see that there weren’t many people in the area, which made social distancing easier.
Another Nighthawk, Adrita Chakraborty (‘23), went to the south of Julian to go sledding and enjoy the day off with her family.
In addition, Chakraborty and her family were able to maintain distance from the visitors and appreciate nature.
“It was delightful to see snow and get out of the house after such a long time,” Chakraborty remarks.
